The Intelligent Investor's Guide To Stock Investments

Submitted by analogik

Even though many nations are in a recession people are seriously considering stock investments. Despite the economic slowdown worldwide many people realized it will not last forever. The legendary American investor Warren Buffett aka the oracle of Omaha wrote this in Berkshire Hathaway's 2006 annual report. "Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful."

This great stock investment tip is part of the credo of value investors. Value investors seek out stocks that have fallen into a temporary popularity slump with investors. This lack of interest and investment depresses the cost of the stock. Value investors use fundamental analysis to determine if a stock has the potential to shake off its unpopular status and increase its share value over time.

Fundamental analysis takes a close look at the company's underlying true worth. It looks at the past performance, current balance sheet and annual report to evaluate its cash flow and revenue. Value investors also look at the company's product or service lines to see how they compare to the competition's similar products. Fundamental analysis also reviews a company's success with past introduction of products to the marketplace. Innovation is considered important to value investors as a measure of the company's ability to improvise and adapt to changes in customer demands and expectations. Patents are very respected by value investors.

Once this analysis is complete the potential investor reviews the information to decide if the company's share price is below its true value. If the conclusion is the price is discounted by the market in error, the next step is to decide how many shares to purchase. The investor continue to monitor the company's performance and share price to avoid future losses caused by changes in the company or the market.
