A lot of culinary masterpieces of today have originated from China. Their originality and resourcefulness in the ingredients they use have been their grounds into creating every dish a satisfying experience to any diner.
Given the natural talents of Chinese cooks, it is not a surprise that it reflects in every aspect of their cooking even in a wide variety of Chinese soups. The concept behind soups is plain water mixed with vegetables or meat, brought to a boil until the flavors of the ingredients are extracted in a broth-like form. However, all soups are categorized in to clear broth (thin) or thick broths. Clear soups are quick and easy to prepare and the ingredients are added in the final stages of cooking. Thick soups are just the direct opposite of thin soups which would require more cooking time depending on the ingredients used. Over time, this tasty liquid provision was called different terms and given countless names for innumerable years. Though, the language may have altered depending on the region it was used, the concept behind Chinese soups will always remain the same. In the ancient Chinese history, the first forms of soups were plain and clear, however at the dawn of the 18th century, almost everything was modernized, and the soups were no exception. From then on, derivations were made. They are now more popular in a thicker consistency where the solid ingredients are much more prominent. A very famous form of Chinese soup widely celebrated today is noodle soups. They are primarily soups with noodles used as the main ingredient. A noodle is a thin strip of dough that has already been dried and boiled. Noodles refer to all varieties from different regions as opposed to pasta which only primarily refers to Italian style noodles. This very popular Chinese soup is now known as an everyday staple meal for most Asians. Countless number of legends is noted in the history regarding the origins of noodle soup and majority of them are from China.
