FOOD AND PASSION

Submitted by kiron
Thu, 28 Apr 2011

In the past couple of years, the new age fad for aphrodisiac recipes has witnessed a sudden rise. We're already familiar with the saying ‘The way to a man's heart is through his stomach'. But adding a new angle to the idea of it is the term ‘Aphrodisiac'. The two extremes of passion - food and sex, in unison can produce a drive that can only be an out of the world experience. Thus arose the phenomenon called Aphrodisiacs.

The word can be traced back to an era as old as you can stretch your imagination. ‘Aphrodite' was the word -Venus of the Romans, the goddess of love and sensuality. We've heard of hypnotic potions that can send the victim on a whimsical drive and black magic that can be performed to attract the affections of the desired ones. But why bother when you have an array of natural aphrodisiacs on the platter.

To take things a step ahead we have Aphrodisiac recipes which include the likes of liqueurs, cocktails, wines, chocolates and fruits like strawberries, cherries and so on. Don't be misled by the expensive labels stamped on those who base their businesses on aphrodisiacs. You can reach the same heights of passion with the use of simple ingredients incubating at the back of your fridges namely asparagus, garlic, saffron, shrimps, chocolates, etc.

Aphrodisiac drinks: Take a foaming whiskey for example. It is whipped up with the help of basic ingredients like whiskey, condensed milk and crushed ice. The ease of mixing up an aphrodisiac drink is undeniable. Drinks like beer, wine, cocktails, mocktails, etc would fall in this category.

Aphrodisiac desserts: How about a bowl of lush chocolate pudding cake or a splash strawberries with whipped cream relished between a couple. You get the idea.

Savory Aphrodisiacs:
These go beyond the range of the gullible and the sweet and by that I mean drinks and chocolates. Picture Oysters with Apple Mignonette. What goes into making it? Oysters, apple ciders, apple tarts, red pepper, black pepper, parsley, cider vinegar and a shallots.

So be a sport and give aphrodisiac recipes a shot to spice up a monotonous life. You can lay your table with saffron paella, lavish salads, wine, and chocolates along with soft music drumming the air to gear up for a special evening with your lover. Let's see how it fails to stimulate your appetite for both food and passion.
