Experiencing Jose Cuervo Tequila Tradicional

Tequila is an agave-based spirit made primarily in the Tequila area about 65 kilometers from Guadalajara. However, US and Mexican laws state that tequila can be produced in any part of Mexico, which is why there are several tequila-producing regions in the country.

Types of Tequila: Blanco Tequila, Anejo Tequila, and OthersUnknown to some, there are two categories of tequila available in the market today - mixtos and 100% agave.Mixtos use up to 49% of other sugars in the fermentation process, usually both glucose and fructose sugars, and agave takes up the rest of the proportion. 100% agave tequila, as the name suggests, uses 100% of the cactus-like blue agave plant in the fermentation process.

Tequila is usually bottled in five different ways. Blanco or plata is un-aged and bottled or stored immediately after the distillation process. Sometimes, it may be aged for less than two months in oak barrels.Oro is un-aged blanco tequila that has been blended with rested or aged tequila, while anejo tequila is a type of tequila aged in wooden oak barrels for one to three years. Extra anejo tequila, on the other hand, is aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels. Anejo tequila, in fact, means "vintage" tequila. The dark, complex flavors of anejo tequila stems from the whiskey and bourbon barrels they are often made in.The last method is resposado, which is aging for a minimum of two months but less than a year in wooden oak barrels.Jose Cuervo Tequila Tradicional

Probably one of the most popular resposado tequilas is Jose Cuervo's Tequila Tradicional. It is a handcrafted, 100% blue agave resposado tequila.Tequila tradicional is best served chilled, for it brings out the subtle flavors of the agave plant as well as the wooden taste from the oak barrel it was stored in.

As the first creation of the Cuervo family, Tequila Tradicional is still one of the best selling 100% agave resposado tequilas in Mexico. Some tequila afficionados use Cuervo's Tequila Tradicional in some of their drink recipes, bringing a unique flavor into their cocktail.
