Tasting Fine WinesSubmitted by satyamrai Mon, 22 Jun 2009
Wine in a way is a form of art. Being able to distinguish between fine wines and good ones is more like a talent. Drinking bad wine is totally unacceptable, considering the various varieties available that can quench any kind of thirst. There is a difference, however, in drinking good wine and tasting exotic wines. A good wine is something you can afford to drink regularly with a meal or just as a social drink. However, fine wines are not the ones which you would uncork regularly and can only be tasted on special occasions, that too in small amounts.
Wine is available at a variety of prices. However, if you are interested in fine wines, a certain capital will be required before you begin to experience a whole new world of fine wines tasting. Exotic wines originate from particular wine regions and unless you are interested in starting your very own wine collection or your own cellar, you wouldn't want to purchase fine wines. Fine wines have this peculiar characteristic when it comes to ageing. They can either age very slowly or mature for a long time. This ensures that each time you taste the wine from the same bottle over a period, the taste will be different compared to the last time you tasted it. The production of fine wines is not for commercial purposes but in a way is a pinnacle in the world of wines. It's a method by which a wine maker can prove his or her approach to wine. They express the specifications of the location they use to grow their grapes. The only way of experiencing fine wines is to purchase the best wines offered by a wine maker. Each wine farm has a variety of wines they produce, at a wide price range too. All the varieties won't be able to tell you anything about the land used to grow the grapes. Only the best wines offered by the winemaker can reveal specifications of the grapes grown. Bordeaux, Rhone Valley, Burgundy in France are some of the world's best producers of fine wine and are an excellent place to start with if you want to start your own collection. Germany and Italy are notable producers as well. Mosel in Germany and Barolo and Barbaresco in Italy deserve a spot in any fine wines collection. Wines from these locations will mature at different rates and will definitely give their owner something to be proud about.
