How to Get Rid of Back AcneSubmitted by naturalremedies Mon, 13 Jul 2009
As we know, there are many types of acne and one of them that are less visible is back acne. Its more likely to feel it than to see it. This kind of acne is not common among acne patients but it is quite the same as acne on our face. Thousands of oil glands are busy over producing oils to ensure your skin is smooth. Tight fitting clothes and fabric that do not allow the skin to breath is the two main reason of back acne popping out. Sometimes, wearing backpack can be one of the causes of back acne but it's not serious as the reason mentioned above.
Back acne is usually viewed as the same disease as facial acne since it develops in a similar manner and expresses itself in similar lesions. However, sebaceous glands on the back are larger and produce more oil than those on the face. These larger glands can produce more severe lesions such as nodules and cysts more frequently. The skin on the back is also much thicker than that on the face, sometimes making effective treatment more challenging. What Causes Back and Body Acne? Body acne is caused by the same factors that trigger facial acne: overactive oil glands, excess dead skin cells, and a proliferation of acne-causing bacteria. Oil and dead skin cells become trapped within the follicle, or pore, and create a blockage. This blockage becomes a blackhead and may progress to a pimple, if bacteria invade. Sweat can also irritate body acne. Rubbing or pressure on the skin can irritate already inflamed follicles and exacerbate breakouts. Tips for Back Acne: -#One of the best advice is try to keep your back clean and the best way is to take bath or shower more often especially after a workout. Try to use body shower gels or soaps that contain salicylic or glycolic acid. Exfoliating your back skin can also be done when taking shower to reduce the dead skin cell which is one of the ingredients for acne outbreak. -#After your shower, apply some topical products that contain benzoyl peroxide to the areas on the back which has acne outbreak. Make sure your back is dry before the application. Its best to rub the topical medication on the skin to ensure it is absorbed into the skin. -#For mild cases of back acne, you might want to try natural solutions like, tea tree oil, homeopathic treatments, Chinese herbs and other cleansing herbs like milk thistle. -#At Nighttime you can treat body acne just like facial acne, by applying acne zapping gel or cream at the effected parts. -#If your body acne is particularly bad and wont respond to this treatment after about a month, you will probably need to see a dermatologist. -#The other thing that worked well for me was Accutane. Accutane is a vitamin A derivative administered in pill form for 15-20 weeks. It has been shown to dramatically and often permanently shrink oil glands, leading to reduction and at times remission of acne symptoms. -#I personally have a very light case of back acne. Gentle cleansing plus a 10% alpha hydroxy acid keeps me completely clear. This light to moderate regimen is an easy way to keep everything under control. -#Wash the back with an anti-bacterial cleanser formulated for the face, such as Cetaphil. Stay away from regular soap. Let skin dry.
