Sensitive Skin Acne Problem

Submitted by Luke22

When people have sensitive skin it can make treating acne very difficult. Most acne treatments use chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide, alph hydroxy acid (AHA), and beta hydroxy acid (BHA) all of which are too harsh for sensitive skin. In order to treat acne problems for people with sensitive skin other measures will need to be taken. But there is hope. If you follow the guidelines below sensitive skin acne problems can soon be a thing of the past.
Do not use any over the counter products that contain harsh chemicals. These can cause a bad reaction and result in redness, tingling and soreness.

Avoid using any skin care products that contain physical exfoliates such as peach pits or sand. These will really irritate sensitive skin and can even make the acne problems look more red and pronounced.

Look for soothing and gentle products that are made with castille soap. Castille soaps are made with pure vegetable oils so they are gentle enough to delicately moisturize sensitive skin.

Don't wash your face more than twice a day. While you want to keep it clean you also don't want to strip your face of natural oils that are good for your skin. This can cause your face to dry out and become more irritated. If you notice that your face looks or feels greasy during the day or in between washes use a tissue to gently blot the oil off of your face and then rinse your face off with plain water and pat it dry.

Acne treatments that use salicylic acids are more gentle than over acne treatments are should be ok for people with sensitive skin. If you can find a salicylic based acne treatment that also contain a moisturizer to sooth your sensitive skin that would be even better.

In addition to the salicylic acne treatment try using a natural treatment such as witch hazel. This can help to make the salicylic treatments more effective and will also help sooth your sensitive skin. Aloe Vera is also a good product to use as it soothes sensitive skin and helps to diminish the appearance of scars.
