Essential Oils Bring Sensory Delight to YouSubmitted by AnneHarvester Sun, 25 Jan 2009
Essential oils are plant based oils that each offers a unique and distinctive scent. Essential oils are distilled or extracted from a plant's leaves, roots, wood, seed, fruit, bark or flowers, and they are very concentrated and pure. People enjoy using essential oils as part of an aromatherapy regimen that may help to lift one's mood.
Emotional memories are tied to the senses, and the scent of smell is a very strong emotional trigger. Actors use scent memories as one means of drawing upon truthful, accurate feelings that they use to portray a character on stage. You might not be an actor, but nevertheless everyone can enjoy the use of pleasantly scented aromatherapy essential oils to bring up cozy feelings of well-being. There is a wealth of different scented aromatherapy essential oils available today, including organic essential oil varieties. At the top of many people's list of favorite fragrances is lavender. Lavender essential oil can be used in a simple ring diffuser, for example, and placed on top of a light bulb living in a lamp in your home. You place only a few drops--remember, the lavender essential oil is very concentrated--into the ring diffuser, and then turn on your lamp. The heat from the electric light bulb will warm the lavender essential oil slightly, causing it to more easily release its wonderful scent around your room. If you like floral fragrances, you might select a rose organic essential oil to use in a tiny personal-sized diffuser. The diffuser is a little bottle that is attached to a necklace, which is worn around your neck. Organic essential oil is placed inside the bottle, and your body heat warms up the oil so that a delightful rose fragrance is released right under your nose. In this way, you can enjoy essential oils anywhere you are. There are other essential oils that offer terrific fragrance. Bay leaf provides a spicy and sweet scent. Bergamot oil sends out that familiar fragrance that Earl Grey tea lovers enjoy. These are but a small sampling of the dozens of oils that you can explore. Anise-scented essential oils are a delicious smelling way to add subtle fragrance to your rooms. You can use a large electric diffuser to scent a large room area. If you want a way to heat the oil without using electricity, there are candle diffusers available that heat the oil in a small dish under which a candle is placed. No matter how they are used, these oils will provide you with aromas that you will enjoy.
As an herbalist who spends her time learning about the properties of essential oils, Anne Harvester has a thorough knowledge of lavender essential oil and aromatherapy essential oils and it's uses.
