Holistic Happenings
Val Silver- September 2008 Tip of the Month: speedy anxiety buster Hello Friends and Fellow EFT'ers! After climbing a steep learning curve and spending more hours than I care to admit, I am happy to announce that my website, www.tapinfinity. com, is up and running! Although the site is pretty basic it has some neat features. I hope you check it out. In addition to some inspiring quotes and musings, there are links to related sites, a flash movie of Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech (one of my favorites) and a blog page that allows you to use RSS feed. That's still part of the learning curve, but I do know it allows you to "subscribe" to the blog and have it be part of your yahoo page. Please sign the guestbook when you visit! Tip of the Month: This is one of my favorite anxiety busters because you don't have to think much and it only takes a few seconds. It helps to balance your brain energy and ground you. This technique "saved" me several years ago (hadn't even heard of EFT back then) when I was on the verge of a full blown anxiety attack before my first reading recovery observation. Fortunately I had enough wits about me to run in the bathroom and do this. I was still nervous, but the anxiety was definitely manageable and I got through it. Cradle the back of your head just above your neck with one hand. This is where the limbic brain is, the part that activates the "fright-flight" response. Put the other hand across your forehead (the reasoning center). The base of your hand rests at the eyebrows, thumb and pinky spread across the hairline (if you don't have one, pretend:)) and remaining fingers on your head. Pull up slightly. This activates a few points including the stress release point on the forehead. This is very easy and natural, you've probably done it many times when you slap your forehead and say, "OY!" While in this position, take a few deep breaths from the abdomen while briefly putting your attention on your feet (to bring the energy down and help ground you) and on your forehead. You may want to practice a few times so when you need to take the edge off, you have it in your bag of tricks! I'd love to hear from you on the website or by email. Let me know how this tip worked for you. Please feel free to pass it on. Many blessings, Val Silver, EFT Practitioner www.tapinfinity.com Val Silver
