Meditation has proven to have numerous benefits to our mind and body. Overall it improves our health by improving blood circulation, purifying the blood from toxins, improves the heart functioning and lowers blood pressure. It is a panacea for stress and anxiety. It eliminates stress and anxiety and helps our minds to relaxed and rejuvenate after a heavy workload. This is now scientifically proven and documented.
Increasing your awareness in every moment, as opposite of living your life on autopilot, hence everyday seems to last longer and be filled with more noticeable experiences. Reduced blood pressure. Increased number of longevity and youthfulness hormones as Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Meditation is subsequently a less expensive and natural alternative to provide our bodies with these essential hormones. Meditation has existed for several thousands of years but it was only in the 1960's that it became popular in western culture and today many thousands of people benefit greatly from its effects. Meditation slows down the heart rate and reduces oxygen and carbon dioxide production. It also raises levels of skin resistance to pain or to an electrical current, which tends to be lower when we are stressed and anxious. This indicates an increase of muscle relaxation and can be explained for phenomena such as lying on a bed of nails or walking through fire. The health benefits of meditation are astounding. The simple act of breathing properly in meditation (and the rest of the time, once you develop the habit) massages and relaxes our muscles and organs. This causes the chi to flow more easily through our body, cleansing and rejuvenating it. At deeper levels we can use meditation to focus more energy on specific organs or muscles to help cleanse them of disease and stress. Some health experts have discovered that people who have been diagnosed to be suffering from too much stress and severe anxiety need not be treated with drugs. The benefits of meditation were once again proven in the study of these subjects. They found that engaging in meditation is also effective panic attack prevention. The main thing that needs to be known when correlating meditation, relaxation and stress is the fact that in order to reduce stress, we have to work, through stress meditation and relaxation methods, on a wide range of pother disturbing problems that come along with stress or that are implied by stress. Like what problems? Well, anxiety, frustration and even depression can be a result of stress or can amplify the effects of stress. The goal of meditation is to become conscious while you are passing through dream and deep sleep states of your mind, and remaining conscious when you are in your spirit so to speak. And then the ultimate goal (practice makes perfect) is the carrying over of that awareness into your day to day life and maintaining it by intuitive living. This is when an entire life makeover takes place of which religious rules of conduct and morals and ethical living are all but cheap imitations of something that is natural and spontaneous due to the actual experience of "seeing God" in the depths of one's being.
