North Carolina Massage Schools Offer MoreSubmitted by urlreader Tue, 7 Oct 2008
How many times have you wondered about what else you might get out of massage school. Now, don't sell the original certification short- getting your massage certification is a great deal of hard work and a great many hours studying and practicing. Instead, you might choose to look at it this way: massage school opened you up to a new world of healing. Even if you were the most scientifically minded person there, you came away with a deeper understanding of energy, psychology, and the mind-body connection. Massage continuing education simply caters to that very opening, offering more information, new techniques, and modalities that can be used in combination with or separately from massage.
There are so many modalities of healing, from body talk to reiki, cranial sacral massage to acupressure, that they certainly could not all be contained within this one article, much less learned by a single individual. While this may be a little disappointing, the reality is that the more deeply you explore one modality, the more you will find its connections to the others. If you are looking for a North Carolina massage school to attend for massage continuing education, you should first determine what modalities you are interested in learning more about. Many people choose to learn techniques such as massage cupping, cranial sacral massage, or reflexology. These techniques can all be done in conjunction with massage, and are often sought out by the same type of clients, so they are great additions to your current practice. You may also seek to broaden your client base through the incorporation of different techniques. Learning a new style of massage, such as Asian-style bodywork, can bring in new clients with a different interest range and who knows- they may open you up to a whole different world of healing based on their own interests. Ultimately, the point of it all is this: massage, and other forms of bodywork, are very valuable skills that help people heal, relax and rejuvenate their bodies. For massage therapists, learning new bodyworking skills is something that will likely come fairly naturally. It is desirable to learn these, and this should be done in a way that brings great benefit to the healer, in terms of the learning, as well as the care and attention given to each student. Looking for schools- NC located or otherwise- that offer classes you want to take is just the first great step in expanding your bodyworking knowledge base. About the Author
