Strengthen Immune System

Submitted by ayurvediccure1

A healthy immune system regulates our body's healing process and protects it against infections and diseases. When stress compromises our immune function, it can result in colds, flu, fatigue, cardiovascular disorders and premature aging. Stress increases heart rate, blood pressure, glucose levels, adrenaline, cortisol, free radicals and oxidative damage. This initiates the "fight or flight" response, places undue strain upon the heart, and can also increase the feelings of anxiety and depression.

Make berries a part of your diet, like blueberries, wolfberries, acai berries, raspberries, etc. They are high in antioxidants, which means they bring oxygen to your cells by fighting off the free radicals that attack you everyday because of all the toxins in your body. I highly recommend adding one ounce of NingXia Red every day - a great NingXia wolfberry drink.

R-ALA Lipoic Acid, which is a far more pure form of Lipoic Acid when compared to the less-expensive S-ALA form, can assist HIV AIDS patients', as it strengths the body's immune system. R-ALA Lipoic Acid can also reduce the risk of contracting Alzheimer's or suffering from a stroke, as it improves the brain function, as well as aids in blood circulation and increases overall energy levels within the body.

The Hepatitis C virus is smart and knows exactly how to maneuver its way past the immune system. Think of it in terms of a battle: the immune system is working hard to defend its territory (the body), which the HCV is trying to invade. Part of the virus is keeping the immune system occupied, while another part gets through, settling in the body.

Regarding the likelihood of a major flu pandemic striking in the near future, Albert Osterhaus, a Dutch scientist involved in pandemic preparedness in Europe said in the same Wall Street article, "It's not a matter of if, but when, this will happen. I am far more scared of a flu pandemic than I am of SARS." The flu, SARS and other communicable diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis are the twenty-first century's major heath challenges.

The immune system recognizes an otherwise harmless substance as a foreign invader and attacks it, causing an allergic reaction. Before the battle, the intestinal lining was like a wall impenetrable to foreign invaders. After many encounters with food allergens, the wall is damaged, enabling invaders and other potentially toxic substances in the food to get into the bloodstream and make the body feel fatigued.

Ayurveda suggests internal treatment. An anti-pitta diet is suggested. Avoiding excessive consumption of tea and coffee, avoiding oily and spicy food, stopping alcohol consumption, etc. are all an essential part of this treatment. Plenty of salads, sprouts, juice from bitter leaves (e.g. neem juice) and some astringents are recommended. Applying herbal packs externally helps in dissolving local infection or purging it out.

Garlic is one of the most versatile herbs available. Aside from fighting off fungal infections, it also has properties that are effective in fighting off viruses and bacteria. Adding a few cloves of garlic in your meal could really help buildup your immune system.

Everybody knows that exercise is good for the body and mind. That's evidenced by the memberships at fitness centers and gyms and the sale of home exercise equipment and even bicycles and walking shoes are making record sales.
