You should avoid alcoholic drinks as the alcohol does pass through to the baby and it can affect the baby's weight and central nervous system. If you drink only occasionally, make sure you do it after you nurse. This means that alcohol level will be lower or gone before the next feeding. Avoid spicy or gassy foods as these can upset your baby's delicate tummy.

Ideally you should start breast feeding the child within 2 hours of its birth, but do not worry if for some reason you are not able to do so - many mothers feed their children after a few days because of some medical reasons and they turn out to be just fine. Apart from milk avoid giving the child any water or pacifier because the child is still learning to breast-feed and things like the bottle nipple and pacifiers can confuse the baby while nursing because milk doesn't flow as fast as it does through bottles.

If someone scowls at you, do not respond to them. Doing so will only upset you and your baby. If someone makes a comment, do your best to leave the comment hanging in the air. If you must reply, say something like, "Breast feeding is natural and it is in the best interests of the baby." Say it as though you were simply stating a fact.

Breastfeeding women need not increase their calorie intake, as used to be suggested, but it is important to support breastfeeding through healthy eating, and drinking lots of water. Beware of eating hydrogenated fats, as these reduce the amount of nutritious ‘cream' in breast milk. Ensure breasts are well supported at all times with a well-fitting bra, and especially during exercise with a good sports bra.

Be aware that breasts usually change size through pregnancy, breastfeeding and weaning, so you may need to splash out on more than one sports bra to cover the period from early pregnancy through to weaning; having a well-fitting sports bra is of paramount importance, and worth the investment.

Well much of it has to do with the human problems with nudity and a lot has to do with the number of perverts out there due to the problems of nudity and the taboo of the Church or various religious organizations. Theoretically there is absolutely nothing wrong with breast-feeding in public as it is such a natural thing to do and our species must do this as it is part of the genetic make-up and nurturing of the next generation.

Get lots of vegetables and fruits - try and have an intake of 5 portions a day of fruit and vegetables. For additional energy try and take in starch rich foods such as bread, pasta, potatoes, pulses and rice - this will provide a good source of energy. Foods such as whole meal bread, vegetables, pulses, cereals and pastas will provide fiber - women occasionally experience bowel problems after childbirth and an intake of fiber on a daily basis will help with this.
