Just like the trends in fashion which changes from season to season, the trendiest styles that you can wear also vary from year to year. The good thing about going with the trend as far as your black hair is concerned is that you can easily update your look or give yourself a makeover without having to spend hundreds of dollars on an updated wardrobe. These styles are available in multiple variants, both for men and women and will give a plus of creativity to your look. Also, if you say braids, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to have long or medium sized hair. Braids are great in the summer weather, just start with a pony tail and braid your hair. You can choose from French braids, plain braids or corn rows. The braided hair styles are available for short hair also. This style is suitable for all age ranges, so just get them if you like the idea.

If you have long, flowing locks, you can have it in a braided, sophisticated style that is perfect for a date or a formal social occasion. Once braided, you can simply part your hair midway or a bit on the side of your face. Once the front part of your braids are separated, you can pull the hair back, take one braided strand at the back of your neck and use it as a 'scrunchee' to wrap the rest of your hair in a simple ponytail style. Jada Pinkett-Smith has sported this look at many red carpet events, and she looked absolutely fab wearing such hairstyle!

If you have really short hair, one of the best and hottest black hair styles that you can sport is the updated pixie cut. Feel as glamorous as Audrey Hepburn back in the days. However, this time it will be more Rihanna-esque rather than classic because the pixie cut that your stylist will give you has more of a geometric shape to it.

You may need to visit a salon to get the style right as it is quite awkward to do. If you do want to have a go then make sure you first use products that will make your hair manageable. The style is achieved by sectioning the hair into small pieces across the crown, the hair is then wrapped in thread and the remaining hair at the end of the thread is braided. Each braided section is then connected to each other, forming a long braided section at the top of the wrapped pieces.

To keep your hair well moisturized, use a braid moisturizing spray. Other ways that you can replenish oils is to use a homemade spray consisting of water, natural oils such as almond or jojoba oil, and essential oils like lavender oil or tea tree oil. These oils will give your hair a beautiful sheen and the scent from the essential oils will be a nice treat after a stressful day.

Before you start to braid you should spray your hair with water or styling spray to make it easier to comb. Again divide the hair into three sections hold the middle section firm and pull the right section across, then the left, and then pull across the center. You can braid your hair loose or tight depending on your preference. Always finish off your braid with an elastic band. You can then either leave the braid hanging or wind it around your head.
