Dressing for a Busy Lifestyle

Submitted by sarahY

So you work all day, go straight home in the evenings, and would much rather rest on weekends. It doesn\'t make sense to waste your time and dress well, right?

Well, not always. In fact, the busier you are, the more you need to invest in good fashion. Many women are into demanding jobs that involve important business meetings, talking to high-profile CEOs, and communicating with customers. If you don\'t look presentable, you give your business a bad name.

Dressing right doesn\'t have to be a chore-in fact, it doesn\'t have to take more than five minutes. All you need are a few good pieces and maybe the occasional accessory. Start by investing in basic but high-quality clothes like tops, skirts, trousers, and blazers. Choose neutral colors to begin with, then start adding colored accessories (such as scarves and jewelry) to give them a visual boost.

Don\'t forget a pair of good shoes. Women don\'t really need a large shoe collection-fashion experts say you can get just three all-around pairs and still go places. The key is to go for quality over quantity. Look for well-made shoes by reliable manufacturers, and one that you can wear with most or all of your outfits. That way, when you\'re in a hurry, you can just grab the first pair you see and you can be sure it\'s going to match.

Makeup is also an important part of corporate fashion. Your face says a lot about you, and sloppy makeup certainly doesn\'t make a good statement. Start your daily makeup with a light foundation that lasts all day and requires minimal touchups. Skip the eye shadow-just use eyeliner and mascara to define your eyes, and just dab some clear or tinted gloss over your lips.

Finally, don\'t forget to change up your look once in a while. Sure, you can still get ahead with the same few outfits at work-but remember, perceptions also count for a lot. By experimenting with your look, you show that you\'re confident, put a premium on image, and are not afraid to try new things both in and out of the workplace.

Being busy is no excuse to give up style and fashion. Here are some tips for dressing well and looking your best, no matter how busy your lifestyle is.
