Fashion for the OutdoorsSubmitted by sarahY Sat, 18 Jul 2009
Maybe you're going out for a hike, hitting the beach, or simply want to enjoy the summer weather. It's the perfect time to let loose and enjoy the outdoors. However, many women also see it as the time to forget about makeup, dressing well and generally looking good. There's nothing wrong with dressing down, but that doesn't necessarily mean forgetting about fashion. After all, nothing ruins a good summer day more than going out looking like you just got out of bed.
Dressing for the outdoors isn't all that complicated. In fact, it's a lot more fun than winter fashion-think of it as a chance to show some skin, feel more comfortable, and look great all at the same time. Take a look at your wardrobe and weed out the dark, gloomy pieces from last season. That way, you'll be left with light, cheerful clothes that really bring out the mood of the season. Whether you're into sundresses or more of a shirt-and-jeans person, there's sure to be a summer look that's right for you. Makeup is also an important part of outdoor fashion. That's right-even if you're out running all day, you can still wear a bit of color and highlight your best facial features. Stick to light, neutral colors so they don't look over-saturated in the sunlight. Use a sheer foundation for your face, browns, peaches and creams for your eyes, and just a tint of pink or bronze for your cheeks. You can skip the lipstick altogether and just go for clear or tinted lip gloss to complete your look. Don't forget to throw on a few accessories before heading out. The rule may be to keep it nice and simple, but you don't want to look too plain or you'll just blend with the crowd. Dressing down allows you to play up your accessories, so be as creative as you want. Pair a brightly colored necklace or bracelet with your all-white ensemble, or brighten up a pastel dress with colorful sandals. Just make sure to keep accessories to a minimum-you don't want to be lugging them around all day!
Being outdoors doesn't mean giving up style for comfort. You can dress down and still look great no matter where you are or what you're doing. Here are some tips to help you out. More dressing for the summer articles and information.
