Five tips to finding the suitable moisturizer for Acne Vulgaris, Psoriasis, Eczema and Rosacea sufferers

Extra care must be taken when individuals suffering from Acne Vulgaris, Psoriasis, Eczema and Rosacea are looking to purchase moisturizers. The similarity between these seemly different individuals is sensitive skin. Hence, extra care must be taken in order to purchase the suitable moisturizers for themselves.

There are many choices of moisturizers in the market. However, many of them do contain irritants which can cause flare ups for Acne Vulgaris, Psoriasis, Eczema and Rosacea sufferers. Hence, learning to read that ingredient label pasted on moisturizers and for that matter, on any cosmetic and skin care products is important.

Although irritants may be present in moisturizers, there are still some ingredients which are generally safe for individuals with sensitive skin, i.e. Aloe Vera. Only very few individuals are sensitive to this marvelous natural resource. You can read more about Aloe Vera and its use in natural skin care for Acne Vulgaris, Psoriasis, Eczema and Rosacea in my blog which is regularly updated. Other than Aloe Vera, there are also other natural compounds that are beneficial for individuals with sensitive skin. You may wish to pay a visit there.

Without further ado, let's go through the ten tips you will find handy when you are trying to choose a suitable moisturizer for yourself.

Tip # 1:

Buy moisturizers which contain soothing agents and anti-irritants such as bisabolol, allantonin, burdock root, aloe, licorice root or chamomile extract. These compounds are often added to moisturizers to help the skin to "combat" ingredients found in skin care products which may cause irritation.

Tip #2

Purchase moisturizers which contain Humectants. They are water binding agents that keep water in the skin. This is particularly important for dehydrated skin. However, do note that these compounds can only bind water but will not retain water. Hence, other agents need to be present in the moisturizers to retain the precious water molecules.

Tip #3

Many moisturizers are touted as having pure mixtures of amino acids. Amino acids have been receiving a lot of attention in the Beauty Arena as amino acids are the building blocks for protein, which is in turn essential for skin cell renewal. However, do note that pure mixtures of amino acids are useless as moisturizers. What we are interested in should be skin moisturizing so that dry skin and itching can be avoided.
Similarly, pure solutions of Glycerin are rather ineffective too. Hence, do not be tricked into buying moisturizers which claim to be effective for dry skin because they contain these mentioned ingredients!

Tip #4

Emollients can be a good choice of moisturizers for many Rosacea, Eczema, Psoriasis and Acne Vulgaris sufferers. An emollient is simply a moisturizer which is oilier in its consistency as compared to a regular moisturizing cream or lotion. This may be particularly helpful for Acne Vulgaris sufferers who are using Benzoyl Peroxides in their treatment. This chemical compound can dehydrate the skin considerably and hence moisturizing can be very important,

Tip #5

Purchase fragrance-free moisturizers. In any case, the less chemical compounds in a moisturizer, the better it is as we are reducing potential sources of irritation and allergy. Hence, choose a fragrance-free moisturizer over a fragranced one. However, do note that the use of fragrance-free can be misleading, as explained in my blog.
