Getting the Casual Chic LookSubmitted by sarahY Tue, 21 Jul 2009
Fashion styles may come and go, but the casual look has always had a solid place in the market. Sure, it\'s fun to get dolled up once in a while, but on most days, casual fashion is the way to go. Thankfully, with trends evolving and designers starting to cover ore ground, there\'s always a way to glam up your everyday look while still keeping that light, carefree attitude. With just a few simple tricks, you can pull off the casual look and still turn heads every time.
The first thing you\'ll notice about casual fashion is that it\'s strikingly simple. A casual dresser may simply put on a white shirt, jeans, and a pair of comfy sandals. If you\'re feeling a bit fancy, you can put on a dress and a light coat. It\'s this simplicity that really sets it apart from other fashion styles. Because there\'s not much color or texture to draw attention, the wearer\'s natural beauty really comes to the fore. That\'s why they say it takes attitude to pull off casual fashion-if you dress down and look plain, your getup won\'t merit a second look. But if you carry it with flair, your personality will be your best trait, and clothes are only secondary. You can also use the neutral look to your advantage by loading up on key accessories. Since the clothes themselves are simple, you can balance it out with colorful, eye-catching accessories. Put on some colorful jewelry, or finish it off with a nice watch or belt. Sometimes, just one well-chosen accessory is more than enough to draw attention. Choose your colors carefully-don\'t be afraid to make bold choices, but make sure it works well with the rest of your clothes. Finally, don\'t forget makeup. Casual makeup doesn\'t take a whole lot of your time-it takes most women about 20 minutes or less. Start with a light, sheer foundation that matches your skin tone, then follow up with natural eye colors such as brown, peach, cream and pink. You can also use brighter colors, but only as accents-you want your natural skin tone to show through. Keep lip makeup to a minimum; if possible, use only a clear or tinted lip gloss instead of lipstick.
Looking casual doesn\'t necessarily mean dressing down or giving up style altogether. There are lots of ways to pull of the casual look and still look your best. Here are some tips to help you get started.
