Hair Loss Products That Can HelpSubmitted by haircutandstyle Mon, 25 May 2009
Hair does not really serve any important function since a person can certainly live without it! Yet, our hair and how it looks is a very important part of our self-image. So when a person loses their hair, it is a disturbing event.
The life cycle of a single hair can be divided into a period of active growth, lasting several years, and a resting stage, which last 60 to 90 days. Of the normal scalp's 100,000 hairs, as many as 15 percent are in the resting mode, soon to be lost at the rate of about 75 hairs per day (hardly noticeable to people). The rate of hair loss does increase dramatically when the growing hair follicle is subjected to different types of internal stress, such as high fever, severe flu, surgery, crash diets, and certain medications. Our hair is made of a type of protein called keratin. A single hair consists of a hair shaft (the part that shows), a root below the skin, and a follicle, from which the hair root grows. At the lower end of the follicle is the hair bulb, where the hair's color pigment, or melanin, is produced. Hair loss products abound in the hundreds and almost all of them make the promise to restore your hair back. But did you know that these things are now becoming somewhat of "old news" for hair loss sufferers? What many are finding out is that they no longer need or have to purchase these often expensive forms of hair loss treatments. You can actually make your hair grow back without using any of them. Sounds strange, but the truth is clear. One herb called saw palmetto is great for blocking the hair loss causing hormone DHT. If you're not aware of what DHT can do, then listen up. For most guys who are dealing with a receding hairline, it's due to DHT. Rogaine causes hair growth as a result of the drug Minoxidil. Although we know that Minoxidil works well, researchers are still unsure as to the exact reason why it can create strands of new hair to grow on areas of the scalp that have been bald for years. One theory was that Minoxidil had an impact on DHT levels better in the blood. If you are unfamiliar with DHT, it is simply a form of testosterone that affects sensitive hair follicles as a person ages. However, it became known that Minoxidil had absolutely no effect on DHT levels. Hair falls out for a reason and many times it can be stopped. Low blood circulation, lack of nutrients that are essential for hair growth, and several other things can influence how much hair you lose. So start educating yourself with what is needed to make your hair grow back fast. Allow me to introduce you to a couple of things you can do right now that will enable you to start regrowing your hair starting tonight. First take note of vitamins and minerals. They are encouraged for us anyway as a way to stay healthy as humans. What we often forget is that they can even prevent hair loss, while regrowing hair that has fallen out. Magnesium, zinc, vitamin B, and others are very great for this. Even saw palmetto extract, the herb used for maintaining a healthy prostate in men, has been newly discovered as a powerful, hair loss fighter when used correctly.
