Hypnotizing Yourself to Help Assuage Scalp Eczema Discomfort

“Beautiful skin from head to toe” is the ultimate promise that keeps most of us spending our hard-earned dough on every beauty product promising flawless skin in as little time as possible. True to their advertised promises, indeed, these products work wonders, making every visible patch of skin as pretty as it could possibly become. This often means that some areas of our skin are left neglected. And among these so often by-passed spots is the topmost part of our head, the bed on which our crowning glory grows, our scalp.

Introducing Scalp Eczema
Eczema is a common skin inflammation most of us are already familiar with. A form of dermatitis, its name is of Greek origin, which in English translates as “boil over.” And eczema is a kind of chronic skin condition whereby the skin literally “boils over,” resulting to uncomfortable, not to mention unsightly rashes characterized by redness, swelling, dryness, and itching. It commonly affects skin on the flexor joints; however, it could also afflict other areas including the scalp.

In actuality, scalp eczema is typical. What most of us are not aware of is that our scalp is so sensitive that it is more prone to skin irritation than any other part of our body. Falling under the kind of eczema known as seborrhoic eczema, scalp eczema is itchy and oily. In severe cases whereby the skin is so inflamed, conspicuous scaling typifies the skin surface. Even if science has not yet pinpointed the exact origin of scalp eczema, atopic persons who are prone to allergy are identified to be more susceptible to it than anyone else. Moreover, it has been determined that this condition can be aggravated by emotional troubles and stress.
Using Self-Hypnosis
Aside from the use of chemical medications and other forms of remedies to help assuage the discomfort brought about by the itching and stinging of the skin when you have scalp eczema, self-hypnosis is an alternative definitely worth trying. Self-hypnosis has gained popularity because it has been proven to be effective in addressing pain and mental and physical discomfort.

Having scalp eczema can be emotionally distressing because of the unsightly symptoms that are hard to ignore. So before you start digging your nails into your scalp and start scratching like crazy, sit back, relax, and follow these steps adapted from Hammond's suggestions in 1990.

1.Relax and let yourself get into a state of self-hypnosis by closing your eyes and clearing your mind of any existing thought.
2.Now, visualize a cooling skin balm being slathered on the affected areas of your scalp. This medication is a very special one, capable of promoting rapid healing and comfort—easing the itchiness and stinging as it permeates your scalp pores.
3.While you indulge in the soothing effects of this wondrous skin balm, clearly visualize the affected skin improving—softer and better in appearance.
4.Visualize more amounts of that healing ointment being slathered on the affected areas of your scalp, and allow yourself to take pleasure and comfort in its healing effects.
5.Repeat this process in your mind until you feel noticeable improvement.
6.Prior to snapping out the hypnosis, suggest to yourself that you would continue feeling comfortable until the time you perform this process again.
