This season, the girly look is back. Fresh and fun colors like pink and violet are dominating the spring collections of top makeup brands. ``Pretty in pink'' could have easily been the buzz phrase for MAC Cosmetics' limited edition ``Barbie Loves MAC'' cosmetics collection for spring. Lip colors, eye shadows and blush are created in different shades of pink, all designed to turn women into living dolls. This is the first collaboration between Barbie toy maker Mattel and a top makeup brand such as MAC.

There is nothing childish about the Barbie Loves MAC collection. The colors are suited for today's hip and fashionable women. The Malibu Barbie Lipglass, a frosted fuchsia color, is one of the best-selling shades, along with the Real Doll and Rocking Chick lipsticks. Among the eye shadows, the pink Playful shade is very popular, as well as the fun mint-green Springtime Skipper.

Other popular items are the Fashion Leader glimmer shimmer, a pearly lotion for highlighting the skin; and Pearl Sunshine beauty powder. All the Barbie Loves MAC products have the classic Barbie silhouette imprint. For Barbie lovers, there is even special edition MAC Barbie doll, dressed in a stylish outfit and thigh-high boots with a MAC makeup bag.

If pink is too girly, Bobbi Brown's ``Violet Collection" features a more mature but still feminine violet palette. Images of violet orchids have inspired the ultra-modern and fresh make-up collection. To recreate the ``Violet Face," all you need is the limited edition violet face palette which contains three eye shadows, three lip glosses and one blush. You can use Ivory and Mahogany as the base for the eyes, accented with Orchid Shimmer Wash to add color. The Baby Violet blush gives just the right amount of glow to the face. You can choose from Pink Lily, Golden Beige Shimmer and Golden Violet Shimmer lip glosses for the lips.

This season, neutral and sheer seem to be lip color trend, as seen with Bobbi Brown's limited edition Uber Beige lip color, Natural Beige lip sheer and Sandy Beige Shimmer lip gloss. The Heather Pink lip gloss is a pale violet lip color packaged in a mirrored compact. The cherubim provided the inspiration for Lancome's spring collection ``Pop Cherub." Conceptualized by Lancome artistic director Gucci Westman, Pop Cherub is described as a blend of tradition and modernity with its palette of strawberry, pistachio and chocolate colors.

Clinique combines both soft pink and violet for its ``Fresh Bloom Spring 2007" collection. Warm pastel color palette is used to create a natural look, with striking eyes and subdued lips.

Clinique's limited edition Fresh Bloom Allover Color is a longwearing powder that can be swept all over the face or used on cheeks to give a glow. There are four different hues: Posy, Almond Blossom, Peony and Poppy. The Color Surge eye shadow trio features intense but long lasting colors that can easily be blended.
