As a man, young or old, you ought to be concerned with the state of your skin. Many men seem like they could care less about the state their skin. With the Hockey season just starting up, who has time to worry about skin care?

Head shaving is something that has certainly become popular over perhaps the last 20 years or so. It is a look that has been popularized by many celebrities and athletes and has become an acceptable look for men and even for women!

Only a couple of times during the week, rinse your face with some warm water and Noxzema or any other type of cleanser Take a washcloth and wet it just a bit, and gently work in the cleanser in a circular motion. Your pores will be cleaned out and your skin will feel better. Don't forget to pat your face dry with a clean towel. To wrap it all up just put on some lotion such as a moisturizing or Aloe Vera lotion.

Of course, for those of you who don't want to take some advice, here's a tip for irritated skin, razor bumps and burns. Aspirin. Aspirin is a very effective anti inflammatory for irritated skin and soothes the redness razor bumps and burns. Here's how to get some peace, take one or two aspirin tablets, dissolve it in about two tablespoons of water and then apply that to your face with a cotton pad.

Shaving Tips for Men

If you're looking for a smoother shave, try shaving in the shower. This softens up the beard and makes a smoother shave easier. If you like to use creams or gels, don't get carried away and use too much. They're more effective if you apply them correctly. Gently massage the shaving cream or lotion lightly onto your skin. This stimulates the little pilli muscles, which then lift the hairs up and so makes them easier to shave. Double or triple bladed shavers may sound fancy, but single blades usually give a better shave.

The Shaving Process

Try and start your shave in the direction of the hair on the face, paying attention to where the hair goes around the chin and neck. When you have covered these areas over one or two passes, gently shave against the hair for one last pass. If you develop a spotty rash or have redness, skip the reverse pass next time you shave. You will not achieve such a close shave but at least you will not be left with unsightly soreness.

Razor burn represents a serious problem to a vast cross section of the male population. Few realize that a simple cure for the ingrown hairs causing razor burn is right in their medicine cabinet! Aspirin's scientific name is acetylsalicylic acid, which is nearly identical to the salicylic acid found in most razor burn cures.

After shaving, be sure to moisturize. Your skin takes a thrashing every time you shave, so it needs to be treated after each shave to help maintain proper moisture. Try to avoid after shaves with alcohol or heavy fragrances, these chemicals can irritate the skin, doing far more bad than good in many cases.

Since men usually shave more then women, but it is not often to encounter problems like ingrown hairs, razor burn or irritation from shaving. Shaving products should not sting actually. When we are shaving hairs off our face, sometimes we tend to shave off the skin without noticing. This is bad as our skin will be irritated.
