Dermatology is the science that is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. Dermatologists or skin doctors must need to complete around 6 years of medical school. After this, he must complete a general medical training program that lasts up to four years. He then takes a painstaking examination to be able to enter advanced training. This advanced training requires at least four years of intensive study, research and practice. In total, a minimum of 13 years of training and study is required for a dermatologist. Dermatologists must be experts in microbiology, pathology, biochemistry and endocrinology to name a few.
