Total Skin Care from the Inside OutSubmitted by gonzaga.marco Fri, 14 Nov 2008
The continuously rising inflation has forced everyone to tighten their belts. Majority of the population has to contend with the present reality that they have to limit their spending to basic necessities, writing off luxury items from their lists for the meantime until the economy shows enough improvement to reflect well on the persistently increasing prices of commodities. For most of us women, however, this is a major blow to our vanity expenses. We could only look forward to the day when we would once again have enough on our budget to allow us to buy that nice little jacket to spice up our wardrobe, or get the latest brand of skin care cream to add to our beauty arsenal. But beauty need not recede into the shadows simply because of the economic recession. To have beautiful, glowing skin does not mean having to buy that steeply priced jar of skin care cream. Beauty can be very affordable, you know. In fact, in order to nurture and maintain the beauty of your skin, all you have to do is go to your nearest grocery store and load up on these scrumptious, nutritious foods that provide total skin care from the inside out. Not only that, you also get the added benefit of having a healthy body to go along with it.
Eating lots of fruits and vegetable not only replenishes your body's supply of antioxidants, but they also help keep those wrinkles at bay. Among these; sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and cantaloupe take the top three spots. Vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables have been proven to keep us looking young by maintaining the stretched quality of our skin (wrinkle-free). Maintaining the high level of Vitamin C in our skin preserves its collagen, protein fibers that prevents our skin from sagging. Of the many choices we have; oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and limes are the most highly reccomended. Green tea contains an antioxidant known as EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), which prevents acne and skin aging due to sun exposure. Taking six cups of this marvelous brew every day would be enough to keep your skin's supply of this antioxidant in check. Load up on Vitamin A-rich foods like broccoli, turnip greens, and spinach. Vitamin A keeps our skin's cell-growth working perfectly. A lack of it would result to dry, tough, and scaly skin. Fish like salmon, trout, tuna, and sardines are known to have ample supply of omega-3-fatty acids and protein. Omega-3-fatty acids are known to combat inflammation, the number one cause of skin aging. In addition, they help keep us from getting sunburn because they intensify the effectiveness of our sunscreen. Avocados are suffused with important oil and Vitamin B complex that provides our skin with its much-needed nourishment. The niacin (Vitamin B3) content of this creamy fruit can fight inflammation and soothe red, blotchy skin. Almonds are the kind of nuts you should be nutty about. Containing 150% of your daily Vitamin E requirement, these nuts keep your skin beautifully moisturized. Plus, Vitamin E possesses antioxidants that defend our skin from damage and premature aging.
