Lynn Redgrave Succumbs To Breast Cancer

Noted British actress Lynn Redgrave had previously overcome breast cancer, but like any cancer, the damaging cells were difficult to remove entirely. As outlined by the Boston Herald, Lynn Redgrave's greatest performances in such productions as "Georgy Girl," "Shakespeare for My Father" and "Nightingale" paled in comparison to her final courageous battle against breast cancer, a battle that she has now lost. Lynn Redgrave was 67 years old. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her children Ben, Pema and Annabel at her Connecticut home.
Lynn Redgrave was known as an ebullient free-thinker
In roles like the lead within the Oscar-nominated "Georgy Girl," Lynn Redgrave cut the stereotype of a modern woman with spunk and real character and came across as authentic and genuine. Publicist Rick Miramontez issued a family statement to the media, pointing out that Lynn had battled breast cancer for seven years before the end. She was loved by all and never stopped working on her dramatic craft, even when illness wracked her body with pain. Miramontez wrote in his statement for the family that "The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives."
Lynn is not the first Redgrave to die within the past 12 months
About a year ago, Lynn's niece Natasha Richardson died after sustaining head injuries in a ski accident, then Redgrave's older brother Corin passed about a month ago. Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave's 73-year-old sister, will carry on the family's tradition in the dramatic arts. Lynn's other notable acting roles integrated another Oscar-nominated turn in "Gods and Monsters," Tony nominations for "Mrs. Warren's Profession" and "The Constant Wife." "Ugly Betty," "Desperate Housewives" and "Law and Order" reflected her significant television acting contribution.
