Asbestos is a group of natural minerals that have been utilized to make specific items. It is mainly used for materials that are utilized to build brakes for cars, materials for construction, and to assist to fight against corrosion and heat. This group includes; amosite, chrysotile, anthophyllite asbestos, tremolite asbestos, and actinolite asbestos. One or all of these have been changed in a chemical way before being utilized.

Researchers believe that they can be unsafe to anybody who works with or around them because the fibers from the asbestos are able to be inhaled. This may induce diseases of the lungs and other essential organs. Unluckily these serious diseases do not always show themselves until much later in life from the time when the people were exposed.

In some individuals it is able to cause scar tissue to back up in their lungs and make it tough and nearly impossible to breathe. The fibers that are able to cause these problems are too small for individuals to observe them without microscopes.

Who is at risk? People who smoke are at an increased risk of acquiring these problems. Also individuals who work un big industries and build things that are made up of products utilizing it are at a great risk. Construction workers might also be exposed to high quantities of the fibers from the building materials that they use every day.

Besides the decrease in lung cancer many health experts believe that asbestos has the ability to induce colon cancer. This is a continuing study that has not been fully established - but numerous think that it has the ability to be induced from drinking tap water and insulation used in the home. Statistics show that 26 out of 2,500 textile workers that utilized asbestos products died from colon cancer.
