Chinese Medicine Insomnia Cure IdeasSubmitted by henryfong Mon, 9 Mar 2009
Insomnia is constantly on the rise. There are always new problems arising that cause us to lose sleep. Chinese medicine may have the cure for insomnia. The traditional medicine has been around for many centuries, but it has been decreased in usage. Maybe we should give it a look.
Unlike Western medicine, which believes insomnia is usually caused by something maybe stress, traditional Chinese medicine believes that insomnia is a disease. They, also, see it as imbalance of fundamental substances or major organs. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that when a person suffers from insomnia their Spirit is wandering. The Spirit is housed in major organs such as the liver and heart. When suffering from insomnia these organs become unlined and this causes the Spirit to wander. Traditional Chinese medical books have many listings of insomnia and what causes it. There are also many different types of insomnia that give variations of why the person is losing sleep. Some of these types are dream-disturbed sleep, difficulty falling asleep, waking up easily, and waking up at the same time each night. One or more major organs in the body is the cause of one of these sleep problems. There are symptoms that Chinese doctors are in tuned to pay attention to, to help pay attention to a patient suffering from insomnia. Some of these symptoms are when a patient has misaligned heart and kidneys they may have lightheadedness, weakness in the lower back, palpitations, and gets flushed easily. Someone with spleen/ heart deficiency may be very forgetful, have poor concentration, and may worry over everything. The kidney seems to be the most common organ to observe for sleep problems, especially insomnia. According to traditional Chinese medicine, when the kidneys are not capable of storing energy then insomnia incurs. When the kidney is unable to hold on to energy it will ascend to the heart and disturb it. This will keep the person awake. A few cures for insomnia in traditional Chinese medicine are acupuncture, herbal therapy, and acupressure. Acupuncture has proven to be a wonderful cure for insomnia. However, for those not comfortable letting someone put needles in your body, herbal therapy is very healing. Some common flavors are chamomile, lavender, lemon balm, and passion flower. Acupressure or a massage is another alternative. The pressure on your body corrects your energies. With our obsession with the quick fix in a little pill, we have forgotten to look at our inner workings to find what is wrong with the outer part. Chinese medicine focuses on a natural healing process to deal with insomnia. We should all try to look into this natural process of curing insomnia. About the Author
