Colon Cleanse versus Body Cleanse

Submitted by ejarreau

There has been a recent craze in the health community, and this is the colon cleanse. Like most crazes, it has been blown a little out of proportion, but there are still some significant benefits to be gained from it. The main point of a colon cleanse is to detoxify the digestive tract, as well as cleanse the system of all excess waste that might not have been excreted naturally.

The colon cleanse and the body cleanse essentially compliment each other. While there are many products out there designed to give you a colon cleanse, most of these recommend a body cleanse diet, which typically consists of raw vegetables, fruit, fruit juice, and water. On a body detox diet, you should avoid foods that would tend to cause problems, such as meat, white flour, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, narcotics, etc. The difference is that, when you go for a diet change, you are cleansing your whole body.

Both methods help to remove all the toxins and junk that have built up in your body. Colon cleansing can help you lose weight, get more energy, reduce bloating, decrease water retention, and aid in digestive health. For these reasons, you should try to undergo a colon cleanse at least once per year, and twice if you can. The short amount of time you have to devote to it should easily be compensated by how much better you'll feel, and how much healthier you'll be.

By the way, not only will your health be better, but you might also be able to eliminate certain symptoms that have been plaguing you for a while. These might include constipation, flatulence, bad breath, acne, fatigue, lethargy, bloating, diarrhea, etc. This isn't voodoo magic or anything; the fact is, when your body is under the thumb of toxins, it's more likely to have problems and make you feel discomfort or pain. Balancing this out can help you recover and enjoy a better lifestyle. It can even be the reason you managed to avoid getting colon cancer.

Now, let's not kid ourselves. The main reason most people tend to look into colon cleansing and/or body cleansing is because these are both effective weight loss methods. On average, your colon is about six feet long, and it can house up to twenty pounds of fecal waste in most people. When you've gone years without any it, you can accumulate an astonishing amount of waste that simply didn't get excreted and ended up hardening inside the intestines and the colon. You can lose real weight--pounds of weight--just by getting rid of that excess waste.

Colon cleansing and body cleansing can also help you lose fat, because they remove toxins and set you up for a healthier lifestyle. As part of a lifestyle with regular exercise, limited junk food, and a diet rich in fiber and nutrients, colon cleansing will be a great help. Cleansing should be an important part of your life because it can do so much to help you have more energy, relieve symptoms, have a better mood, and enjoy greater health.
