A person's Teeth are a crtical part of the shape of a person's face. When an individual looses teeth, it often times can cause the cheeks to sink and the shape of the face to really change. Tooth loss can also lead to unsightly gaps that show when someone smiles. Unfortunately, these changes can cause a person to become self-conscious. Teeth are also critical with regards to forming words, as well. Any lack of teeth can cause a person to mispronunciation of words. A combination of altered appearance and difficulty in speaking can cause individuals to become intorverted. By addressing any lack of teeth through dental prosthetics, confidence is regained.

Teeth are also critical with regard to chewing food. Lack of teeth sometimes leads to a restricted diet because eating some foods often becomes painful. In addition, lack of the ability to chew can adversely affect the digestive track as food is swallowed in larger than normal chunks. Dentures can improve the individual's health by helping them regain their ability to bite food into smaller pieces.

Some individuals need full dentures because they have lost all of their teeth, as a result of gum disease. However, if only a few teeth are missing, it is possible to replace the teeth with a partial denture.

Dentures need to fit the mouth exactly. Poorly fitted dentures can cause pain. Sore spots can develop in the soft gum tissue. This is the result of the individual's denture rubbing wrong while the person is talking. To ensure that the dentures fit the mouth, each set of dentures is made-to-measure by a qualified dental technician.

The procedure begins by taking a dental impression. An imprint of the patient's mouth is taken using a viscous material. The mould is then used to create a model of the individual's mouth. This is important because the dentist needs to be able to match the contact between the upper and lower teeth. The actual dentures are made using acrylic. To make sure the dentures fit perfectly, the dentures will be adjusted in the patient's mouth by a dentist before the final form is produced.

The dentures should be cleaned every day, because they are susceptible to tartar in the same way as other teeth. With a soft tooth brush, clean around the guns, tongue, and roof of the mouth each morning and evening. Brush any remaining teeth like you normally do. Then remove your dentures and brush them to remove any particles of food. Then soak the dentures in the special denture cleaner. Finally, brush them one more time before placing them back in the mouth.

Scheduled dental check-ups are essential for denture wearers. This helps to prevent gum disease and infections at an early stage. Additionally, the dentures may need to be replaced over time due to gum ridges changing shape. Any changes often times can lead to dentures fitting poorly. This again results in infections if left untreated.

Denture are common. Due to advances in dentistry, modern dentures look like natural teeth, so millions of individuals wear dentures that go unnoticed by anyone meeting them.
