Dental Veneers With Whitening ProductsSubmitted by annefields Mon, 20 Jul 2009
In the many practices of cosmetic dentistry, the use of dental veneers is considered to be one of the most popular, especially because of several TV shows that features its effectivity in providing a whiter and more aesthetically pleasing smile. According to beverly hills veneers specialists, dental veneers are known for their use as restoration for damaged tooth, as well as for correcting imperfections such as small teeth that results in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, while others may have malpositioned teeth that appear crooked. Several beverly hills veneers specialists stated that multiple veneers can close these spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight.
Other than its use for restoration, dental veneers are also used to provide whiter teeth. In the past, dental veneers were made for actors requiring whiter teeth for their movies. However, the introduction of whitening products and methods, such as the use of topical OTC (over-the-counter) products, have diminished the demand for veneers in terms of providing whiter teeth. Whitening products and methods Vs. Dental veneers Whitening agents such as bleaching gels are now available for use at home that provide minor to extensive improvement to the color of the teeth. OTC products typically rely on a carbamide peroxide solution varying in concentration from 10% to 22%. Bleaching solutions may be applied directly to the teeth, embedded in a plastic strip that is placed on the teeth or use a gel held in place by a mouthguard. Because the concentration is typically low to avoid toxicity, whitening often takes several weeks. Aside from the use of topical products, lasers have also proved its use in providing whiter teeth. The advantage of using lasers in teeth whitening compared to topical products is that the process typically takes around an hour, with a single visit to a dental physician (depending on the condition of a person's teeth). The drawback with the use of lasers is its expensiveness. Dental veneers, although expensive, offers more advantages. Dental veneers, aside from its use for restoring and improving the structure of the teeth, is also known for its teeth whitening effects. According to beverly hills veneers professionals, the advantage of using dental veneers, particularly with porcelain veneers, is their resistance to stains. Another is that dental veneers can also serve as protection from bacterial infections as well as an effective whitening procedure in which stains are coming from the inside, and not from the outside (although internal bleaching can accomplish this).
