Any of us can lose a tooth, for a variety of reasons; it can be an accident or a dental disease. It's very important to replace missing teeth for many reasons. First of all losing teeth can lead to changes in your speech, which can also affect your self-confidence. If the gap is left there for long enough, the neighboring teeth can start to migrate from their proper positions, creating misalignment of the teeth, change your bite, which can in turn lead to gum disease, and bite problems and headaches. When teeth are lost for a long time, the area of the jawbone that held those teeth starts to erode. Over time, you can lose so much bone that your jaw will need a bone graft to build up the bone in your jaw before your dentist can place implants or make a denture that fits properly. Tooth loss affects how well you chew and what food you are able to eat. Many people who have missing teeth have poor nutrition, which can affect overall health.

Dental implants are one of the preferred treatments for teeth replacement these days. Without implants, you may end up with ill-fitting and ill-looking teeth, and even your jaw line could be altered in an undesirable manner. Dental implants are actually a type of artificial teeth. These implants are placed by a specialist in oral transplants, inside your mouth. They are put into certain places in your jaw and act as a bridge or as replacement teeth.

One thing you may or may not know-if you are getting a full set of dentures, you will not necessarily need to use a dentures adhesive. The saliva in your mouth will be enough to keep your dentures in. Also your dentist or the person who fits you for dentures should fit them so perfectly to your mouth that they will not slip or move around unnecessarily.

Only as your gums begin to change shape after a few years and your dentures do not fit as well any more do you need to use dentures adhesive. However, those with partial dentures or bridges will need to use adhesive to keep them in place. Some people just like to use an adhesive so that they feel more secure.

Looking attractive is nothing to scoff at and it's one area where you won't have any problems with implant dentistry. A beautiful smile is the product of healthy gums and teeth. Teeth implants don't wear over time or appear different from your natural teeth. Implants won't produce unwanted changes with either your facial or jawbone structure. Sagging jaws are commonly caused by tooth loss and an older-looking face is one of its consequences. To stop looking older and start looking younger, there's only one solution for you: implants.

Improved comfort is just one of the many benefits you can start enjoying with dental implants. Dentures often become loose over time as the jawbone shrinks and the structure of the bite shifts. Sticking with dentures harm your gums and this could then lead to nerve injury and other unwanted side effects. If, however, you choose to go with tooth implants, then not even people with clear eyesight will be able to tell where natural teeth ends and where implants start because they fit like it's always been there.
