How to Floss

Flossing is one of the most important aspects to keep your
teeth healthy. There are surfaces between the teeth that are not accessible by
toothbrush. Flossing is the best way to clean these surfaces. Dr. Laura Bracken
suggests that the frequency of flossing your teeth is the same as brushing your
teeth. Generally, you should do so after every meal. But you should try to floss
your teeth at least once a day, ideally before going to bed. Dr. Laura Bracken
has been providing quality dental care in the community of Columbus, Indiana and surrounding areas for
over seven years.

First, cut about two feet of dental floss. Wrap both ends
of the floss around your middle fingers. With your index and thumb, move the
floss in between all your teeth one by one. It is important that when you floss,
you make sure that you are not cutting your gum. The goal is not to clean the
gum, but to clean the teeth's surfaces. In each space between the teeth, wrap
the floss around the tooth and gently move it back and forth and up and down
before moving on to the opposite surface of the adjacent tooth.
