Which Is The Best For You? Composite Veneers Or Porcelain Veneers?

Submitted by annefields

Dental veneers are one of the many fixed prosthodontic methods used to improve the aesthetics of one's teeth. Because of this, several cosmetic dentists have come to classify this method of dental restoration as part of the growing practices of cosmetic dentistry. Today, the availability of dental veneers has grown incredibly around the world, especially after several TV shows have come to feature its use in beauty and glamour. But the main reason for its availability, especially to people that wouldn't usually get veneers, is because of its affordability.

As of today's current price listing, porcelain dental veneers cost as low as $1000 a tooth to as high as $2500 per tooth. Composite veneers, on the other hand, are much cheaper than porcelain.

Composite resins and Porcelain
Porcelain was the very first material ever to have been successfully used for dental veneers. However, because of its expensiveness, only a few people, usually belonging to the higher economic class, are able to afford such improvements. But because of the introduction of composite resins, which are far cheaper than porcelain, the availability of dental veneers has grown considerably. There are, however, several disadvantages to the material.

Although composite resins are significantly more affordable than porcelain, specialists, particularly those from beverly hills veneers centers, have found out that composite resins are less stronger than porcelain. Although porcelain is expensive, the benefits that patients could get from the material are all worth the money. Porcelain is known to resist the usual food stains and cigarette stains. Porcelain is also known to last twice as long as composite resins. Also, the life expectancy of composite resins ranges only from 5-7 years, whereas porcelain lasts from around 10 years to as long as 30 years.

When it comes to aesthetics, porcelain is also known to provide a more natural tooth color. Composite resins, you see, are slightly darker in hue, which is why dentists would usually recommend to their patients to add more composite veneers in common to hide the fact that a person has had veneers. But usually, according to beverly hills veneers centers, composite veneers aren't only used for aesthetic purposes. In the past, porcelain veneers were only made to provide people, especially actors, a way to have a shinier, whiter teeth. Today, dental veneers are also used to improve not only the color of the teeth, but also the aesthetics of teeth structure.

Having small teeth results in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, while others may have malpositioned teeth that appear crooked. According to beverly hills veneers centers, multiple veneers, usually composite veneers, can close these spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight.
