Over 18 million people nationwide has to deal with diabetes. A person who has diabetes, it can be controlled by being active, eating healthy foods, and taking their medication.

Diabetes, What is it?
Diabetes disease is when the metabolism and sugar level in the body is disrupted from performing its normal function. People with diabetes have high glucose blood levels due to the lack of function of insulin which maintain low blood glucose levels. When the human body system fails to produce insulin this results in diabetes. Insulin is created in the pancreas. The pancreas controls and adjusts the amount of hormone production or insulin production to convert glucose sugar from food into energy for our body. You can ask your doctor what your blood sugar levels should be.

Types of diabetes.
There are different types of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is considered the more common type of diabetes. Having type 2 of diabetes is oftentimes preventable by losing weight, exercising and eating right. Weight obesity is one of the more crucial elements bringing about an increase in developing diabetes. Taking steps to prevent being over weight is not only beneficial for the heart but can aid and maintain a well-balanced blood glucose level. Exercising helps keep weight off and also helps in preventing blood flow problems, which are frequent problems for people with diabetes. Eating healthy foods helps keep blood glucose (blood sugar) levels in the correct target range.

Another type of diabetes is referred to as Type 1. Type 1 diabetes, formerly named juvenile diabetes, is usually first diagnosed in children and young adults. In type 1 diabetes, the body doesn't produce insulin, which is necessary to carry sugar (glucose) from the blood to the cells. Type 1 diabetes is more serious and increases the risk for several life-threatening illnesses including heart disease, stroke, renal failure, hypertension, blindness, and nerve damage.

Gestational diabetes. What is gestational diabetes? Gestational diabetes happens when high-level blood sugar (blood glucose) levels rise during pregnancy. This takes place when the mother’s body can not create and utilize all of the insulin it requires to process blood sugar normally. Women with gestational diabetes run a risk of developing type 2 diabetes at any time after the infant is born whenever diet is inadequate and also with weight gain.

Anyone who suffers from diabetes disease, whether type 1, type 2, or gestational, in order to be healthy, they need to do certain things.

First, they need to set up a meal program and healthy eating plans. There are lot's of free meal planning software for diabetes you can download from the Internet. You can download menus for diabetes that offer nutrition foods, free recipes for diabetics, diabetic diet meal plans, dessert recipes for diabetics plus much more information.

Second, another important step in how to control diabetes is exercise. Staying active can help control high blood sugar, help lose weight, and help lower blood pressure.
