It is normal to encounter different levels of stress in your life. In fact, it is impossible to go through life without feeling stressed at some time or another. Once you recognize that you are stressed and understand the cause of this stress, you can then take steps to find ways to reduce stress in your life and feel better.

Exercise has long been recognized as a stress reducer. Making plans to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, whether this is by working out at the gym or just going for a walk, will help to unclutter your thoughts and emotions. It will also have a dramatic effect on your fitness level improving your muscles and reducing fat.

Relaxing music is another of the ways to reduce stress. There are many CD\'s you can buy that have instrumental music that incorporates many of the soothing sounds of nature, such as falling water. According to research, Baroque music is the best choice when you want something to reduce the amount of stress you feel and help you relax.

This music is written so that it matches the normal heart rate of 60 beats a minute. As you close your eyes and focus on the music, you will notice that your heart rate starts to slow down and you start to relax.

Meditation is a way of reducing stressful feelings. It is not hard to learn the techniques of meditation and when you make it a part of your day through sessions lasting from ten to thirty minutes, you will start to notice a difference in your outlook on stressful situations and life in general.

You will not achieve the full benefit of meditation in only one or two sessions because it is something that you have to work at and practice. When you make it a regular part of your day, you will be able to use it as one of the ways to reduce stress because you allow your mind to focus on peaceful thoughts and feelings.

Limiting the amount of caffeine and alcohol you consume will help to reduce stress in your life. These drinks do cause a rise in your heartbeat and blood pressure as well as feelings of tenseness in your nervous systems. While many people who are stressed often turn to alcohol, tobacco and drugs as a way of relieving stress, the feelings of reduced stress are short lived and make you feel worse as the effects start to leave your system.

You do need to schedule breaks during your day as a way to reduce stress. Instead of eating your lunch at your desk as you continue to work is not good for your mind or your digestive system. There are times when you need to remove yourself from the situation that is causing your stress and getting out for a walk during a break is often the way to do this.

If a coworker is responsible for your stress, you should either discuss it with the coworker or with someone who is familiar with the situation in an effort to find ways to reduce your stress. In extreme circumstances, it may mean requesting that you not work with this person or changing schedules that will limit the amount of stress you feel in connection with your job.
