Endometriosis involves pelvic pain and infertility, for which there is not yet any cure. However treatment of endometriosis can alleviate the pain and help infertility. The endometrial stroma and glands should only be found inside the uterus, but with endometriosis, these tissue may be found anywhere in your body, such as in the pelvic cavity, ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterosacral ligaments, and the rectal-vaginal septum. In addition, they may also can be found in the bladder, bowel, colon, intestines, and rectum.

Chronic pelvic pain is an obvious symptom of endometriosis, so if your pelvis feels painful, you should see a doctor and tell her or him your exact symptoms. Normally, endometriosis can be diagnosed only through a laparoscopy. Once you are diagnosed with endometriosis, a treatment will be recommended. Actually, there are a variety of treatments of endometriosis. One may be more effective than another, but this is only according to individual, as no single treatment can be applied to every patient. You should choose your own treatment according to your personal condition, but before taking it, be sure to communicate with your doctor.

If pelvic pain correlates with your menstrual cycle, you should realize that this is common, and you don't need to worry much about it. But if you are experiencing pelvic pain that doesn't correlate to your cycle, it may be endometriosis, which might impact your daily life, so you should pay attention to it. Another question confusing most women is whether endometriosis involves infertility. The answer is not certain, but it is estimated that 35% of women who are suffering from endometriosis are infertile. So when you choose a treatment for endometriosis, whether you have future pregnancy plans should be considered as well as the severity of your symptoms, as some kinds of treatment may affect ability to conceive. If you are experiencing pain, but have no plans for immediate pregnancy, birth control hormones or anti-inflammatories may be all that you need to manage the pain. However, if you have trouble in conceiving, the treatment used may need be more complex, based on many factors such as your symptoms of endometriosis, your age, your general health, etc.

Many women avoid surgery or hormones because of their side effects. Therefore, natural treatment for endometriosis has become popular recently. Changing the diet has been tried by many women and been proven very successful. First, caffeine, alcohol and sugar are labeled as the top three culprits for pain that should be removed from the diet. Secondly, eat fresh fruits and organic vegetables, at the same time minimizing the consumption of processed foods. In addition, certain vitamins, herbs and supplements are also beneficial in the treatment of endometriosis. For example, vitamin C promotes healing of the tissue damaged by cysts and scarring, flaxseed helps control inflammation and vitamin E assists in hormone production.
