Diet And Exercise Go Hand In HandSubmitted by galaxywd Thu, 5 Jun 2008
Anyone who has lost a lot of weight and been successful at keeping it off will probably tell you that it is not just the dieting or just the exercise, but a combination of both that will help you change your life. One never works too well without the other. If you eat very little and get no exercise to speak of, you will run your system down and will probably just end up a little skinnier, but still not be in good physical shape.
When you do exercise, but you still eat the wrong kinds of food and the wrong amounts, you will still not be as physically healthy as you can be. It is important to have a balance of both diet and exercise in order to optimize the benefits that you get from either one. Getting healthy and staying that way should be the main objective instead of only losing weight or only building and toning muscle. It is much easier to sculpt a body that is getting all the right nutrients that it needs. If you want to get yourself in better shape on the inside as well as the outside, you should start by seeing your doctor. He can most likely either give you or show you charts of what your ideal weight should be for your height. You can learn other things about your body mass and how your metabolism might be working according to your present weight and age. These things are important to know about your body because it will make it easier to know the kinds of foods and the quantities that you should be consuming and also the types of exercises that might be most beneficial to you. The important thing is that you not go on a diet exactly to lose weight, but it requires a change altogether in the way you eat. If you begin healthier habits that you use for a life time, then it is not a diet, but a way of life. This always works better than staying on some starvation plan for a few months, losing weight, and then reverting right back to your old ways. When you change the things you eat, the way you eat, and combine it with regular sufficient exercise, you will eventually see the results you want to obtain and be able to keep them. About the Author
