Lack of Exercise from Sitting or Standing JobsSubmitted by galaxywd Sat, 5 Jul 2008
You know it might seem to some of us that the toll that our daily jobs takes on us should be all the exercise that we need. Well, that would depend on what your job is. When you are sitting at a desk all day long and only get up to walk to a copy machine, the rest room, or the break room, this could be a job that is definitely not supplying you with enough proper and adequate exercise.
If you have a job such as a desk job, a driving job, or even a job where you stand in pretty much the same place all day, you very well may be extremely tired at the end of the work day. This can be because of the stress factor and also because you are over using certain muscles in your body while the others are lying practically dormant all day. To be really fit and healthy your body needs for all your muscles to be in play regularly in order it to function well as a whole. When you sit at a desk or drive a vehicle all day, you may have terrible shoulder or arm pain because you are consistently using these muscle groups or having them remain in a straining position for long periods of time. When you think they have been put through enough for one day, the opposite might be true. They probably need to be used a little more, but in other positions and motions beside the way you use them during the day. When you sit all day at your job, your back can also be strained and tired and feel like you have been using it all day. These muscles also need to be stretched and have beneficial exercise that will make the back stronger. When you get a full body workout that incorporates using your entire body, it will actually make having to sit or stand in one place everyday more bearable and less strenuous to these specific body parts. Sitting and standing in one place during the day can play havoc with your legs and hips too. Standing in one spot for long periods can decrease the circulation and make the legs feel cramped and very tired. You should try to get them and keep them moving when you can. Sitting all day is not good either. Sitting or standing too long can cause your feet and legs to swell sometimes and one of the best remedies is working them out to make them stronger over all.
