You may think that there are a lot of secrets to natural bodybuilding, but to be honest with you there's one that is responsible for the majority of muscle growth you experience - good eating plan. A lot of natural bodybuilders say that nutrition is responsible for at least 70% of the results you experience and a good eating plan is one of the main secrets to natural bodybuilding.

If you're a natural bodybuilder, you want to gain a lot of lean muscle mass and at the same time you want to make sure that you keep the body fat off. If you'll implement the 40/40/20 - you'll be able to do that with ease. So what the hell the 40/40/20 principle is?

Well, the principle is very simple, yet it is very effective. 40/40/20 principles states that a person who wants to gain muscle should get 40% of his daily calories from proteins, 40% from carbohydrates and 20% of fats.

A lot of beginner bodybuilders who want to gain a lot of lean muscle mass mainly focus on high protein, low carbohydrate, no fat diet. This is the single, biggest mistake you could make if you want to gain a lot of lean muscle mass. Why?

Simply because if you won't get enough carbohydrates, which act as energy - you won't be able to train as hard as you need in order to make your muscles grow. Also, because carbs acts as a main source of energy and if you won't provide your body with enough of it: you'll feel tired and even worse you'll be losing your lean muscle mass, because your body will use your muscle tissue as a source of energy.

This is why you want to make sure that you provide your body with the required amounts of macronutrients. If you'll implement the 40/40/20 principle - you'll be providing your muscles with enough building material (proteins), you'll provide your body with enough energy (carbohydrates) and also you'll make sure that your joints are lubricated and cell production runs smoothly (fats).
