Hair Transplant Surgery – Consider The Side Effects

Submitted by tim98205

Hair transplants have become a popular method of dealing with hair loss. For many people, losing their hair can mess with someone’s self esteem. Transplants offer a quick and easy way of treating hair loss. However it’s important to consider all the side effects, before rushing into this costly and irreversible procedure.

Swelling in the scalp, forehead and eyes is one of the most common side effects. Although it only last a couple of days, it can still be a concern. Your doctor should be able to give you medication to help. Skin moisturizers can help also. Itching can be relieved by shampoo the scalp. Spray water from a bottle is also a great tip!

A small percentage of people (5%) experience hiccoughs after hair transplants. It’s not known why this happens. While hiccoughs aren’t a serious side effect, then can be a minor annoyance. Not only can sleep patterns be disturbed, but they can annoy others who you live or work with. They usually go away after a few days.

Infections can be one of the most severe side effects of getting a hair transplant. It’s importance to note that these are extremely rare; however they have been known to happen. Taking the prescribed antibiotics before and after the surgery will greatly diminish your chances of getting an infection.

No matter what type of hair transplant you’re getting, it’s important to understand all the side effects. Make sure you consult your doctor, both before and after the surgery so he can advise you on your best course of action. Hair transplants can be a safe and easy way of dealing with hair loss, as long as you do it safely.
