Having Nightmares Because Of Your Roommate Snoring?

Submitted by Wangeci

Snoring is a pretty sucky situation for the one who's not snoring, but it's not like you're the only person in the history of college who's had to deal with it.You are probably just going to have to stick it out.My roommate's snoringis probably more annoying than anything. Many people who have had roommates are intimately familiar with this problem -long nights lying awake while your roommate snores away, sleeping noisily and (irritatingly) peacefully.I suggest you smother him with a pillow.Just kidding! There are actually several reasonable solutions that can help him annoy you less and help calm your homicidal feelings.

One of the things that contributes to snoring is extra weight. Of course, no one likes hearing that their problems can be solved by diet and exercise, but it apparently works.Snoring is caused due to many factors like excess fats, drinking etc. However the are also various ways and means which helps to stop snoring.Obese people are more likely to suffer from snoring problem. As they have more fatty tissues in their neck leading to vibrations of the loose tissue.Sleeping on the back can cause snoring as the pharynx which is a muscular tube relaxes while sleeping. This cause narrowing of the airways which cause snoring. So why don't you talk with your roommate about changing the sleeping position to side ways instead of facing up with back to the bed?

If you are perturbed enough to write a letter to an advice column about your problem, your roommate's death would probably be a welcome solution. If he turns up missing, we'll know who to question first. If he won't sleep on his side on his own, you can always "help" him. After you do this a few times, he'll probably get the picture.

Cures for snoring
*You should take care of your diet.Heavy diet at night will cause snoring.
*Dairy products can cause snoring. So avoid such products before you go to sleep.
*You can use a firm and neat pillow to stop snoring
*Some simple exercises like stretching and walking can control snoring.
*Don't drink alcoholic beverages, take sleeping pills, tranquilizers, or antihistamines right before going to sleep, they will cause your muscles to relax and limit your air passage way.
*One of the devices against snoring is mandibular advancement splint.Such dental appliances advance the lower jaw slightly and leave the tongue forward. They help reduce snoring and sleep apnea, however they have side effects such as the change of the snorer’s bite.
*Elevate your head by sleeping on a thicker pillow or multiple pillows will help reduce your snoring.
*Sleeping on your side instead of your back will help to prevent snoring

Consult a medical professional if your roommate snoring continues to adversely affect your sleep. As we all know, lack of sleep or very little of it can adversely affect your bodily health functions.Roommate snoring deprives you necessary rest.In some cases it can be life threatening. There exist about 300 devices that help to cure snoring patented in the USA.It is proven, that correction of snoring significantly improves the snorer's as well as your well being.
