Health Risks Of Passive Smoking Of Cigarettes

Submitted by alanden

Most people are aware of the dangers of smoking, yet despite knowing about the damaging effects of smoking on their personal health, many smokers cannot seem to quit. They rationalize their habit by thinking that they are only hurting themselves if they smoke. However, smoking also impacts the health of people who don't smoke. Friends, family, children, co-workers, and even casual bystanders may suffer negative effects from passive smoke.

What is passive smoking? You probably are familiar with the term "secondhand smoke" to describe the smoke inhaled by someone within close proximity to a smoker. Secondhand smoke is a mixture of smoke from a burning cigarette, pipe, or cigar, and exhaled smoke. It often has greater amounts of damaging chemicals than inhaled smoke, for instance, twice as much nicotine and tar. This puts people exposed to secondhand smoke at a higher risk of smoking related diseases and health problems.

Research into passive smoking effects on health show increased risks of lung disease, heart disease, and various illnesses for people constantly exposed to secondhand smoke. Health data on smoking and passive smoking show a correlation between secondhand smoke and cancer, with people exposed to secondhand smoke having an a higher risk of lung cancer and heart disease. Sadly, it is not uncommon for the nonsmoking child or spouse of a smoker to develop diseases related to smoking because of constant exposure to secondhand smoke.

Passive smoking is especially bad for infants and children. Small children exposed to secondhand smoke are at a higher risk of respiratory infections and other respiratory health problems. Children who have asthma are at an increased risk of having more frequent attacks. Secondhand smoke may also be responsible for increasing a pregnant woman's risk of having a miscarriage or a low birth weight baby.

Due to the health impacts of secondhand smoke, smoking has been banned in many public areas, such as bars and restaurants. Passive smoking can also be an issue in the workplace. Workers who breathe in secondhand smoke have a higher risk of illness and even miss more days of work. This has led many workplaces to ban smoking on the premises, and some areas have even passed ordinances against smoking in the workplace. Amongst jobs with a smoking ban, employers report more productive employees and fewer absences.

Typically, most smokers start seeking ways to quit smoking out of concern for their family's health. There are several ways to stop smoking, and one of the quickest ways is through the use of a quit smoking hypnosis program. Hypnotherapy programs for quitting smoking are designed specifically to help smokers stop smoking without withdrawal. They are especially useful because they help smokers fight the mental aspect of the addiction, which is the most difficult aspect to beat.

Self-hypnosis programs for quitting smoking are designed to teach people hypnotic techniques to help quit smoking. One of the best things about such a program is the fact that smokers learn how to stop smoking without experiencing withdrawal symptoms. In fact, hypnosis techniques can reduce or even completely eliminate withdrawal symptoms commonly experienced using other methods of quitting smoking. Another great thing is that since people learn how to use hypnosis on themselves, they do not have to worry about relapsing. If they ever want to smoke, they just remember and utilize the techniques that helped them quit.

Hypnotherapy produces many effects to help people quit smoking. It is an ideal tool for ending smoking cravings while also functioning as a relaxation tool to reduce stress. It also acts as a motivating tool to eliminate the psychological addiction to smoking. This variety of effects gives hypnosis its effectiveness in helping people to quit smoking for good.

The benefits of stopping smoking include improved health for the quitting smoker as well as for friends, co-workers, and family. Those who are looking to quit out of concern for their families can turn to hypnotherapy for an effective and easy-to-use tool for ending a smoking addiction. Anyone can learn hypnotic techniques for quitting from a well-formulated program, and stop smoking hypnosis therapy has a high rate of success because it makes quitting smoking faster and easier.
