Menopause is the stage in a woman's life when the menstrual cycle stops. This is not a disease; rather it is a natural process in a woman's life. However, the stage when a woman has her menopause could be a very painful and mentally debilitating stage. There could be several complications.

From an Ayurvedic point of view, menses is the flow of excess pitta from the woman's body. Menses is called as Raja in Ayurveda. For this reason, the stoppage of the menses flow permanently, i.e. menopause is called as Raja Nivrutti, which literally means retirement of menses.

Plants, herbs and products that contain natural estrogens called phytoestrogens compounds are established natural health remedies for menopause. These help to minimize many menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, heart palpitations, vaginal dryness, moodiness, anxiety, irritability and other problems. A number of studies have demonstrated the benefits obtained with phytoestrogens, if used carefully.

Menopause is the time in a woman's life when the function of the ovaries ceases. Main effect of the menopause is a greatly reduced production of the hormone oestrogen. Some menopausal women suffer psychologically from the awareness that they have come to the end of reproductive life. The menopause is often viewed as a significant stage in the ageing process. The menopause involves the end of egg production (ovulation) by the ovaries.

There are several easily identifiable pros of using natural menopause remedies. First and foremost, they do not have any associated side effects. In light of recent findings by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and the Women's Health Initiative, which have shed some light on the facts that the many of the popular hormonal therapy drugs that treat menopause also greatly increase the chance of contracting a variety of breast cancers, and come with a multitude of known and adverse side effects.

Eat a balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains and that limits saturated fats, oils and sugars.

Don't smoke. Smoking not only increases your risk of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, cancer and a wide range of other health problems. It may also increase hot flashes and bring on earlier menopause. It's never too late to benefit from stopping smoking.

Exercise regularly. Get at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity on most days. This is especially important if you are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. If you are a person who doesn't like to exercise, or you feel you don't have time to exercise, a walk around the block is a great place to start.

Consider investing in a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day to help you increase your physical activity while you're going through your daily routine. In addition to being one of the best natural remedies for menopause, exercise can also help reduce stress.

This is a Chinese herb which can help to alleviate hot flashes especially those triggered by overworking and fatigue.
For many women there is no need to turn to harmful prescription drugs to treat menopause symptoms - Mother nature has provided everything you need! Before taking any herbs, however, you should consult with a certified natural therapist as some herbs can interact with prescription drugs you are taking and may do you more harm than good.
