Home Remedies for Miscarriage

Submitted by remediesathome

Miscarriage is one of the worst things that a couple has to face. The loss of the anticipated bundle of joy is something that cannot be described in mere words. But in many cases, miscarriage occurs due to ignorance or carelessness on part of the woman. When a woman becomes pregnant, she must realize that she is no longer alone; she is carrying another life within her womb. So she must take adequate precautions to protect and nourish the baby inside her womb.

After you confirmed that you are pregnant, you can schedule an appointment with your preferred obstetrician. During your first prenatal visit, information like the first day of your last menstrual period and your expected date of delivery will be given to you. Pregnancy vitamins will also be prescribed and you will be scheduled for a monthly prenatal visit to monitor your baby's development.

Folic Acid - Folic acid has been shown to reduce the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida. Ideally you should take a daily 400 microgram (mcg) Folic Acid Supplement from the time you start trying to conceive until the end of your first trimester (12 weeks). However if you haven't been taking it start when you find out you are pregnant. You should also eat foods containing folate - the natural form of folic acid - such as green vegetables and brown rice, fortified bread and breakfast cereals.

Getting pregnant is an orchestration of synchronistic events that play out like a beautiful musical masterpiece. Each instrument has to play on cue. It's mind boggling to think about everything that must occur for successful conception, implantation, and finally, pregnancy. After undergoing a series of unsuccessful fertility treatments (including IVF twice - which resulted in the removal of a fallopian tube after an ectopic pregnancy), I was still certain that I could have a baby the ‘old fashioned' way even with one tube.

It is important to grieve. Talking through your emotions with someone trained to help, such as a bereavement counselor or someone experienced in dealing with pregnancy loss, would be enormously beneficial, prior to considering pregnancy after miscarriage.

Among the many Ayurvedic remedies for preventing miscarriage, one of the most important is the Triphala choorna. This is a mixture of three important herbs - amalaki (which balances pitta dosha), bibhitaki (which balances kapha dosha) and haritaki (which balances kapha dosha). Hence the Triphala is given to correct all the doshic imbalances in the body of the woman.

The most obvious sign of miscarriage is bleeding. If you notice unusual bleeding during your pregnancy, you will need to talk to your doctor, who may perform an ultrasound scan to visualize your developing baby. In many cases, when a miscarriage occurs, your doctor may wish to undertake a procedure known as a curette. A curette ensures that all the baby's tissue is removed from your uterus, thereby preventing infection and scarring. After a miscarriage, your doctor will want to investigate why the miscarriage occurred and may recommend that you wait several menstrual cycles before attempting to become pregnant again.
