Home Remedies for Toothache

Submitted by remediesathome

Just about the only thing that is worse than having a toothache is having to go to the dentist so that he can fix it! While you might try to ignore a toothache and hope it goes away you really need to have it checked out as most toothaches are due to tooth or jaw problems like dental cavity, cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, jaw point diseases or spasm of the muscles used for chewing.

Among the most effective home remedies for toothache is garlic. A clove of garlic with a little rock salt should be placed on the affected tooth. It will relieve the pain and, sometimes, may even cure it. A clove should also be chewed daily in the morning. It will make the cure teeth making it strong and healthy.

inflammation of the gums, when the gums become purple-red, soft, shiny and sensitive and bleed easily especially when you clean your teeth. If gingivitis is left untreated, then pockets of infected pus can develop at the base of teeth, followed eventually by gum boils and loose teeth. Home remedies for toothache may give a tremendous help, keeping gums healthy or healing gingivitis.

Take a small shot of whiskey - You're probably thinking "how the heck does that help?", well, I'm going to tell you, the alcohol can often numb the pain a little as it is absorbed by the surrounding gums, it only takes a few minutes to take affect and can really help to ease the pain of toothache for you.

Your best advice is to seek dental care ASAP, as the infection can always return at any given time. If you don't get problems fixed as soon as you can, they can spread and cause you more problems with your teeth. Cavities will need to be filled, while the rotten or dying teeth will need to be extracted. If caught in time, the dentist can normally save the tooth via root canal.

One thing that I must stress to you is that you really should be having regular dentist appointments for check ups just to stay aware of how your teeth are and how healthy your teeth and gums are, dentists are the only people who can professionally examine and treat dental problems so make sure you get check ups every six months and if you ever feel as though there is a problem then get yourself an appointment as soon as possible.

Heard of clove buds? They are mainly available at small stores. Clove buds come with a vial that has an in-built dropper. Buy clove buds as well as some cotton swabs. Put a few drops of clove bud on a cotton swab. Then gently apply the swab to the painful area. Make sure you know from where the pain is actually coming.

There is another kind of toothache which is caused by an infection in the tooth or gums. This type of toothache can be very painful and involves swelling of gums. It is not however easy to get rid of this type of toothache, usually because it is hard to know where the pain is coming from.
