To declutter my life has provided me with a sense of harmony I had not experienced before. It started with decluttering my home but it soon spread to other areas of my existence. Both my private and social lives have emerged much enriched by this cleansing process.

Decluttering my living environment and myself has positively affected my work, my social life, what I eat, how I think and how I perceive myself. It has stimulated my creativity, given me more energy and a more optimistic outlook on life.

Many people spend most of their time living in clutter without ever realizing how amazingly good it feels to be free of excessive material possessions. But then again, how could we know how something feels if we've never experienced it before?

When we are used to living with clutter it can be difficult to fully realize how it drains our energy levels, how it increases our stress and robs us of the free time we need in order to do what we enjoy.

The idea of going through all of the clutter in your life and ridding yourself of it can be a daunting one. Still, I have found out that what was challenging to me in the beginning of the decluttering process quickly became enjoyable. The benefits I reaped outweighed any internal resistance I had.

… And we do have internal resistances to living in psychological and material simplicity! At every turn, our societies are reinforcing the message of getting more and more and more. However, quality over quantity is definitely more satisfying and fulfilling when it comes to anything in life - including material possessions.

To go about decluttering my life, I armed myself with determination and a good strategy that included gathering useful information before I began the process. To set up an action plan and chart my progress made all the difference. Because accumulating clutter is such an accepted and reinforced social habit, it is important to surround ourselves with some form of support as we begin to simplify our lives.
