Yeast Infection Thrush - Cure and Treatment Help

Submitted by david08

Yeast infection, although can sometimes be life-threatening, can be cured easily. Also known as thrush or its' medical term candidiasis, that is characterized by small, inflamed bumps that occur in areas in body that are moist, warm, and not often exposed to sunlight such as armpits, skin folds, mouth, and genitals.
This fungal infection is not exclusive to women. Men can also be affected by this disease, and the most common form of candidiasis is penile infection. Likewise, this does not only target adults but also children. Although very rare, children can catch yeast infection in the areas around the mouth, appearing as white patches.
There are many alternatives in treating this disease. Doctors can prescribe either oral or topical treatment. When you first are diagnosed, some doctors prescribed oral tablets or medications because of their ability to work inside-out. Oral medicines such as Diflucan (fluconazole) and Nizoral (ketaconazole) can stop the excessive production of yeast in our body.
Topical treatments, or creams and lotions that can be applied on the infected area, are also effective in eliminating the candida yeasts. Clotrimazol, topical nystatin, and ketoconazole are the common topical medicines. For vaginal yeast infection, Monistat-7 is recommended by doctors. Men who have penile infection can also use Monistat-7, but the effects are not as effective because of the different nature of penile problems.
For those who like to self-medicate and fond of concocting medicines out of the kitchen cabinet, there are also effective home-made treatments that can be found in the World Wide Web, and many users have attested to their efficiency. For instance, applying refrigerated aloe vera on the infected area can get rid of the itchiness caused by yeast infection. In addition, soaking your body in a tub of water with five drops of tea tree oil can treat yeast infection.
