Medical supplies available to help keep you healthy

Submitted by Elle Wood

With the flu season upon us again, we all need to stock up on any and all medical supplies available before they go flying off the shelves in record numbers to help keep ourselves and our family members from either contracting the virus, or as comfortable as possible while coping with the symptoms.

If you haven't already, you will begin to start seeing people wearing the breathing masks around their noses and mouth. These breathing masks help to keep out up to 95% of the particulate aerosols free of oils including bacteria. These do help a great deal in spread of the virus.

Sanitizer wipes/gel. These are excellent to keep with you at all times. Of course, your best defense is always washing your hands with soap and water, but when you are out in public areas and not near a public facility you should still use the sanitizer as often as possible and refrain from touching your face or nose with your hands. This is one of the most common ways the virus is spread.

Drink plenty of fluids. That goes without saying. Anytime you are sick, your body becomes dehydrated and you need to keep your electrolytes in balance to help fight off the infection. Always drink plenty of water or Gatorade to hydrate your body.

Having these and other medical supplies on hand for any type of flu that may affect your family will help you to be able to cope a little better giving you peace of mind.
