Cymbalta is an antidepressant medication. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression.
Cymbalta is approved by the FDA for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and for the management of diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP).For the treatment of depression, Cymbalta offers relief from many symptoms of depression that may include loss of interest, associated anxiety, aches and pains, and mood. There are many theories about the cause of depression. One of the most commonly accepted theories suggests that two naturally occurring chemicals, serotonin and norepinephrine, are believed to affect core mood and pain symptoms of depression. These chemical messengers aid communication between many areas of the brain and spinal cord that affect emotional aspects of a person's nature. Side effects of Cymbalta Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, constipation, fatigue, decreased appetite, sleepiness, and increased sweating. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Cymbalta (duloxetine Hcl) and contact your doctor immediately. Precautions of Cymbalta Like any drug, Cymbalta may not be right for everyone, consult with your doctor if this one is right for you or not. Cymbalta ingredient Duloxetine may cause liver injury. If you have taken an MAOI type drug such as Marplan, Nardil, or Parnate in the last two weeks you’ll want to wait awhile until you begin to take Cymbalta.
