Emergency technicians can perform rescue operations in remote areas of the country. Hospitals and other emergency facilities also care for patients transported to them by ambulances or family members in their emergency departments.

In a world where technology and new developments are constantly being updated in the medical field, emergency medicine conferences are a valuable source of education for all emergency medical personnel from the ambulance corps to paramedics to nurses and physicians.

Emergency medical personnel have a duty to stay informed of new treatments and strategies in caring for patients with burns, traumas, physical injuries, mental disabilities, poisons, and illnesses in adults, children and the elderly. Improper emergency care can lead to additional disabilities in the patient and can even lead to death.

Emergency medicine conferences are located across the United States in many different settings and atmospheres. Rocky Mountain has a Trauma and Emergency Medicine Conference held annually at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colorado, which is a quaint Victorian town of shops, restaurants and boutiques. Breckenridge is more than 140 years old and was originally a mining haven for gold and silver.

Tampa, Florida offers a Family and Emergency Medicine Conference Cruise of the Caribbean islands. The ship sails from Tampa and travels to Key West, Belize, Santo Thomas and Costa Mayo.

Wilderness emergency medicine conferences are offered in many areas of the U.S., and have hands-on workshops for emergency medical personnel. They cover injuries and illnesses which can strike patients out in wilderness environments. These conferences educate emergency medical personnel on how to manage wounds and fractures; the care of patients suffering from frostbite and hypothermia; caring for altitude illness in individuals; proper field treatment in snake bites, bee stings and spider bites; and immobilizing and transporting the patient from the wilderness area. These are just a few of the many topics they cover.

Pediatric emergency medical conferences review topics like the use of conscious sedation when treating children who are experiencing painful procedures; handling children who have experienced physical and sexual abuse, seizures, sports injuries, renal emergencies; and the triage, evaluation and management of a variety of pediatric medicine issues.

Emergency conferences relating to geriatric care for the elderly include covering topics on understanding the physiology of the elderly and the frail elderly; reduction of adverse drug events and dosing implications; preventing injuries and illnesses in elderly patients; and discussing the special needs and issues related to the care and treatment of elderly patients.

Emergency medicine physicians make an average annual salary of $231,368 with a lower income in some areas of the U.S., at $206,138 per year, and a higher salary of approximately $254,882 per year. Emergency medicine nurses make an average annual salary of $61, 112 with some areas of the U.S., paying as low as $55,667 per year and other areas paying as high as $67,312 per year. Emergency medicine technicians make an average annual salary between $25,417 and $32,834.
